GFWTE Walk #16


 

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,,
God called and you have said, “Yes, Lord, here am I.” Thank you for choosing to serve God on the Georgia Foothills Men’s Walk to Emmaus #16 scheduled for September 24-27, 2009 or the Women's Walk #16 scheduled for October 1 - 4, 2009, at Camp Woodlands, Cleveland, GA. Preparation for an Emmaus Walk is vital so that our team members have the opportunity to get to know each other and develop a solid bond as we all work for Him during the Walk weekend. To get started, our Board of Directors will be conducting an Orientation training session on Monday, June 22, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. During this session, you will learn the responsibility of each team position and how your position interacts with others on the team. Please note that child care will be available for all team meetings. If you will be bringing children, please let us know by the day preceding the meeting, if possible, so we can work with the caregivers to have enough helpers.

There will be three Saturday meetings for all team members. These meetings will be held at Gainesville United Methodist Church. The dates are July 11th, July 25th and August 15th. For behind-the-scenes servants, the meetings begin at 9:00 am and will conclude at 1:00 pm while those serving in the conference room will meet until 4:00 pm. It is extremely important to be present for these meetings so we can support and affirm one another in each of our servant roles. The conference room members will be previewing five talks during each of the Saturday meetings and reviewing the weekend schedule. At the same time the behind-the-scenes members will be learning about their roles and taking care of any pre-Walk preparation. Conference Room, please bring a sack lunch and drink for about a 30-minute lunch break.

The last team meeting will be a covered dish dinner on Monday, August 24th, starting at 7:00 pm at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Spouses are invited. This will be followed by a time of worship and a time to cover final details before the Walk. All team fees should be paid in full by this meeting. Babysitters will be available.

Please wear your cross and name tag and bring your worship book to all team meetings. If you need a Georgia Foothills name tag please let Observing Lay Directors (OLD) know at the first meeting. Team fee for the Walk is $150 and may be paid in full or in increments so long as the full amount is paid to your OLD no later than the end of the August 24th meeting.

Please pray for the Pilgrims daily. We don’t know their names yet, but God does! Pray that the Lord will open their hearts to accept the message He has for them (Acts 16:13-15). Pray for their families and the plans they must make in order to attend the Walk. Pray for the Team and their families as we all prepare to serve.
